The Sun is Shining: The Summer ’11 Release is Here!

Here are some highlights you’ll see on June 3 and 10 when your Riskonnect is seamlessly upgraded to Summer ’11:

 While these are only a few highlights from the Summer ’11 release, there are many more features and new capabilities in use by Riskonnect behind the scenes. In the background, Riskonnect is able to leverage an enormous amount of development by our Platform providers to develop and configure technology and solutions specific to your risk management needs. The foundation and tools provided by our technology partner enables us to continually develop and configure at a pace unsurpassed by other technology vendors.

  • QuickFind in Setup
    - Find customization settings quicker. The sidebar in Setup now includes a search box so locating the menus you’re looking for is as easy as searching Google.
  • New Outlook Shortcut
    - Enjoy finer-grained control over syncing of emails, contacts, calendars, and tasks to any object, even custom objects. Summer '11 adds a link directly from your activities calendar so you can quickly jump to the queue to resolve synced items.
  • Improved Sharing and Updating Files
    - Collaborating around files is now simpler and faster, with the ability to quickly share and update files right from a Chatter feed, in both public and private groups. Also new is the ability to assign collaborator or viewer permission, which determines who can make modifications or upload new versions of your file.

Chatter is Game-Changing | Start Improving Collaboration with These Chatter Enhancements:

  • Chatter Mobile for Android (BETA)
    - In Summer '11, Chatter Mobile is available for Android devices. Now you can stay connected to the people and records that matter most, whether you’re in the office or on the road, through your favorite Android device.
  • Chatter Live Browser Updates
    - In Summer ’11, Chatter notifies you of new posts in your feed from inside your Internet browser. If you’re logged into Chatter but working on another tab in your browser, the tab you’re using for Chatter displays a new post notification so you’ll never miss an important update.

  • Multiple Field Selection in Report Builder
    - In report builder, you can select multiple fields at once to add, remove, or reorder. For example, you can add Coverage Minor, State of Jurisdiction and Litigated Status to your report at the same time. Just press CTRL (Windows) or Command (Mac) while selecting.
  • Report Builder Preview Loading
    - The report builder preview loads more quickly than ever! With new, faster loading, you can continue to make changes to your report while the preview loads. For example, drag multiple fields into the report and then create a grouping while those columns load.

  • Dashboard Component Snapshot Posting to Group Feeds
    - In addition to posting snapshots to dashboard and user feeds, you can now post them to group feeds! A snapshot is a static image of a dashboard component at a specific point in time posted to a Chatter feed. Post a component snapshot to a user or group feed to share and comment on that component. For example, post a snapshot of this month's claims to your team.
  • Field Limit Updates
    - The limit for the maximum number of fields on a custom object has been raised from 500 to 800 fields per object. The total number of sharing rules per object increases from 100 to 300. There are no longer limits to the number of rich text area and long text area fields that an object can contain, although the limit for the total number of custom fields allowed on an object, regardless of field type, still applies. Now, each object can contain a total of 1.6 million characters across long text area and rich text area fields. The default character limit for long text area and rich text area fields is 32,000 characters.
  • Dynamic Page Components
    - Dynamic components offer a way to create pages that render according to a variety of states, such as a user's permissions or actions.
  • Inline Editing Supports Rich Text
    - Inline editing on Visualforce pages now supports rich text area (RTA) fields.
  • Chatter on List Views
    - Personalized and role-based list views are some of the most powerful productivity enhancers for risk and safety professionals—and now they include Chatter activity, too.
